Mercury Optimax Air Fuel Injector Cleaning
The Mercury Optimax employs a highly specialized and complex injection system. This system uses not only a fuel injector but also an air injector. Both fuel and air travel through a shared rail, with the fuel injector designed to deliver fuel directly into the air injector. From there, the air injector functions similarly to a GDI injector, injecting the fuel-air mixture directly into the cylinder for combustion at the precise timing needed to maximize power output. For the system to operate effectively, both injectors must work in perfect synchronization. However, the Optimax system is not immune to challenges; like the fuel injectors, the air injectors are also affected by the issues associated with higher ethanol-content fuels as well as upstream debris from air pump failures.

You might come across Mercury Optimax Air injector service priced at $20, but this usually does not include O-Rings and seals, which are often additional costs as purchase options. The OEM Mercury Seal Kit #26-804875 for Optimax Air injectors costs $22 on its own.

As a result, shops use aftermarket combustion seals to lower the cost. Generally, they all come from the same base supplier regardless of who you buy them from. Be cautious as often they do not serve as accurate replacements; we have discarded thousands of these seals.

Many suppliers opt for incorrectly sized seals from non-OEM vendors due to lower costs, while OEM seals tend to be unnecessarily expensive. To this, we have created 100% accurate replacement Optimax Air combustion seals ourselves, allowing us to pass the savings on to our customers.

We have developed a specialized seal compression tool specifically for this injector. The commonly used tool raises concerns, as it compresses a 10mm seal to over 11mm, leading to issues during reinstallation and pinching the seals at one end. Our custom-built billet compression tool is a perfect compression sleeve with optimal dimensions.

Redline Optimax Air O-rings

OEM O-rings are often overpriced, and many O-ring/seal kits available in the market contain incorrectly sized O-rings. After several kits and finding them unsatisfactory, we collaborated with an O-ring manufacturer to produce our own, using Viton, and pass the savings on to our customers.
